Position: 1​ st - 6th Grade English Teacher 

                     Full-time teacher (8:30-12:05 and 12:30-16:00) OR

     Two part-time teachers (8:30-12:05 OR​ ​ 12:30-16:00)


Location: Centro de Educacion Basica Manuel Bonilla​

     Juticalpa, Olancho


Eligibility: Bachelor’s and/or Master’s Degree in Education​

      TEFL or TESOL Certification

      Minimum 2-3 years teaching English as a second language

About Our Organization and Our Partner School
  • De Manos Con Amor is a NYC based non-profit helping break the cycle of poverty in Honduras through education. Our NYC based team hosts yearly events, while our Honduras team gathers resources to provide a English Program in Honduras to over 500 children. Centro de Educacion Basica Manuel Bonilla is one of the oldest elementary schools in

Juticalpa providing a public school experience for over 600 students grades K-12. Manuel Bonilla hosts a variety of core classes such as Math, Sciences, History, as well as Music and Physical Education. 

  • With our collaboration, Manuel Bonilla is also able to provide free English classes for these students, a subject that is only taught in private schools at a cost to families. Supporting education means providing students with the tools they need to succeed, like learning a second language, so that their future career opportunities are that much more.


  • Plan weekly differentiated lessons.
  • Use unit planning for the year.
  • Share weekly lessons and units plans with DMCA NYC and Honduras team on a quarterly basis.
  • Establish classrooms rules in English that students must adhere to in classroom.
  • Create standard based bi-weekly quizzes, unit-exams (written and verbal), and end-of-year oral presentation.
  • Incorporate worksheets, technology, instructional text, articles when applicable.
  • Complete bi-monthly bulletin boards reflective of classroom instruction and creative projects. Execute small group instruction.
  • Communicate with DMCA NYC and Honduras based team on a bi-weekly basis (sending video clips of classroom lessons and activities, share ideas and concerns, pictures of students working, etc).
  • Communicate with school administration for support and when necessary.

  • Strong English communication and grammatical skills.
  • Strong instructional, classroom management and discipline skills.
  • Strong collaboration skills.
  • Capacity to use standards to develop English lessons, tasks and assessments.
  • Experience in developing rubrics aligned to tasks.
  • Track record of developing targeted formative and summative assessments across unit.
  • Demonstrate excellent leadership and organizational skills to lead classroom.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of curriculum development and program evaluation, child growth and development, effective instructional strategies, classroom management and learning assessments.
  • Proven track record of meeting high standards for scholar achievement.


SALARY: Depends on Full-Time or Part-Time Employment​
