The establishment of a Deputy Regional Director - Humanitarian (DRD - Humanitarian) position is in direct response to the expanded capacity required to effectively guide CARE’s humanitarian efforts in the Latin American & Caribbean (LAC) region, resulting from the continuously growing sub-regional Venezuela crisis, the crisis in the Northern Triangle in Central America, the unfolding crisis in Haiti, as well as the rapidly unfolding crisis resulting from the COVID-10 global pandemic. The DRD - Humanitarian is responsible for providing strategic direction, technical support and guidance to CARE’s strategic humanitarian work within the LAC region.

This position will be responsible for providing leadership and hands-on technical support as required to Country Offices (CO) to support CARE’s humanitarian responses that are impactful, at scale, and that adhere to humanitarian principles and CARE’s approach (gender equality & women’s voice, resilience and governance). S/he will provide leadership and oversight of all key areas including; emergency response strategy development, start-up and scale up of response actions, program quality and impact, human resources management, financial stewardship, resource acquisition, communications, legal and representation.
